Cats are generally very good at grooming themselves. But some cats may not be able to adequately groom themselves, such as long-coated breeds. Maintaining your cat's coat and caring for her hygiene needs such as clipping her claws and keeping her sanitary areas clean you will help keep your cat groomed, clean, matt free and happy!
We can provide total grooming of all dead hair leaving your cats to coat completely knot and matt free. we can provide a range of grooming services for your cat from de-shedding to a lion trim in many variations. Cats that are used to water can be bathed or for cats that hate water, we can use other methods to clean the coat. We can offer a hygiene clip around the sanitary areas and also trimming of the nails including eye and ear cleanse.
We specialize in difficult and elderly cats. When the coat is very matted or the cat is old or particularly stressed and angry, we recommend 2 visits.
Over the years the Lion Clip has become a rather stylish trim, we used to use the term lion trim when we are explaining to owners what their cat will look like after their matted coat has had to be removed. With the lion clip the coat can be clipped to leave the legs, clip down to the knees or clip down to the paws, it can also be done using different styles to the head such as a full mane like a lion or a small ruff or just the head leaving short and rounded around the head. The tail can be shaved leaving extra length at the bottom like a lion or all clipped short or left fluffy.
Older cats can be much more difficult to clip due to their skin being wrinkly. Extra caution must be taken as to not overstress the cat, 2 sessions may be needed. Difficult cats are sometimes easier to groom than other cats as fearful cats become relaxed once they realise there's nothing to fear. Cats are more difficult to groom than dogs, extra safety measures are used with an angry cat to help stop them from attacking the groomer. We can only restrain a cat for a certain length of time due to the stress caused. Very rarely is there a cat that we can not groom but this does happen from time to time. If this happen we would advise you to take your cat to the vet.
We have all the right equipment to bath and blow dry your cat though we would not recommend a bath on your cats first visit, this should be introduced over time when your cat becomes familiar with us and the salon, it will also depend on your cat's disposition towards water, surprisingly most cats don't mind having a bath, once grooming becomes normal and a bond has been established between us and your cat they often co-operate willingly without fuss!
The price for cat grooming will depend on your cat's personality and the condition of the coat. If your cat needs restraining 2 cat groomers will be required which will incur an additional charge, we will always aim to give you an accurate price before we start to groom your cat once we have assessed your cat's coat and discussed what is needed and what you are requiring however the cost may go up or down.
